Ipod Touch Will Soon have a Microphone and Camera…Making it an Iphone…

So rumor is in the Apple Community that the new release of the iPod Touch will have a microphone and camera. A well connected source, from Wired, said this is indeed correct, and a plant in China is currently building new model iPod’s as I write this article. With these two new peripherals, who exactly would need a home phone anymore? If one were to say, download the Skype or Google Voice App, then, supposedly use it on this iPod, the need for a home phone service would be completely unnecessary ideal. But of course, no one would ever do that would they? Regardless of whether or not you’re trying to find ways to sneak out of your phone bill, this move by Apple is still momentous, because it creates a communications device wherever Wi-Fi is available, which is everywhere. Voice activated and Camera operating App’s will also be available with the release of the new iPod, unveiling a wider range of uses and functions. If I were you, be excited, soon you can talk on your iPod. (Also, with use of Verizon Mi-Fi, you could create an “Iphone” in the Verizon Network, which has been long awaited) *Also, on another note, a Cosmic Things Tech Talk Facebook Fan Page (yes it’s a long title) has finally been created. If you have a facebook, please become a fan, and...

Chrome OS is Proof Google is Going to Take Over the World

For some time now, the prospect of an operating system released by Google has haunted the back corners of internet blogs, forums, and message boards. Google’s first step towards complete control of everything ever a Microsoft Windows competitor has finally arrived. The idea of the new Chrome OS, which creatively borrows its name from Google’s current browser, is a slimmed down operating system designed for web usage. “The operating systems that browsers run on were designed in an era where there was no web,” was posted on the official Google Blog tuesday. The Google Crome Operating System is Google’s attempt to “re-think what operating systems should be”, while at the same time, taking over the internet. Google promises to create a user interface dedicated to the internet. A near non-existant and simple GUI is intended to create a cloud computing experience. In other words, most of your computer will not actually be on your computer, but rather, on the massive collection of integrated servers and filesystems all over the internet, where your data will be stored among the online applications you use. The OS is also planned to be highly secure and easy to use, so users do not need to worry about viruses or spend hours installing new hardware, which sounds like an OS that already exists is a good idea and is revolutionary. While these features are...

Smartphone Kombat: Pre vs. Iphone

Now, unless you have been completely devoid of any social contact to the modern technological world in the past two years, the new bustling device to sweep everyone’s pokcet market is the Iphone. The Iphone, made by Apple, has sold considerably well during the recent recession; and that’s under AT&T. During the last year, the T-Mobile G1 was released, to rival the popular Iphone. Sadly, T-Mobile’s limited network has not reached to more of the mainstream phone users. Now, however, there is a new kid on the block, the Palm Pre.  The race is close between the two, as seen in the image below. As you can see, the two phones are very similar, but have major defining differences. The Pre’s carrier, Sprint, will be supporting 4G network connectivity with the phone on it’s June 6 launch. This achievement towers over the iphone, which will not support 4G until next year. On the flip side, the iPhone has a popular app store. The Pre’s store, which will open at launch, will not have the same popularity initially, nor will it have the same recognition. This, so far, is the iPhone’s only real defense against the Pre, which improves off the iPhone. For starters, the Pre has a keyboard. No longer will you need to constantly clean your glossy, smudge-beaten touch screen. Now, it is a convenient slide down keyboard,...

Starbucks Tweets So People Will Buy their Coffee

Well it looks as if the move to Tweeting for advertisements is underway. Starbucks plans on creating a new advertising campaing in order to increase its sales, which, due to the recession and McDonalds McCafe, have slowly dwindled. But hey, Isn’t that what they get for charging five bucks for a chocolate bar in a cup? Over the past year, Starbuck has slipped as more and more have been avoiding overpriced coffee and poured more from home. The problem, with advertising through tweets, is that no one wants ads! The same sort of spam-attacks have plagued facebook and myspace for the past year, and does anyone really want more of that? I sure don’t. Point is, any way we look at it, Web 2.0 is beggining to be conquered by social networking and advertisement wars. Starbucks is just one of the few who has not yet taken advantage of the...
