Safari 4 Public Beta Released, competes with Firefox? (screenshots added)

Safari 4 Public Beta has been released and is surprisingly great competition against Firefox. When testing it myself, I decided to switch browsers. Come test it out for yourself!
Safari 4 Beta Pros:

  • Tabs on the top of the window
  • Top bar takes up less space
  • A “top site” page when you create a blank new tab (like Google chrome does)
  • All around better UI
  • Faster (and I mean Fast) Browser
  • Application launch time is faster than Firefox (about <1 second for my system)
  • Coverflow history
  • New built-in Nitro engine
  • Native Windows feel
  • Developer tools
  • Smart address/search field
  • Phishing and Malware Protection
  • Updated RSS reader

Safari 4 Beta Cons:

  • Lost the progressbar in the address bar
  • Saved session in safari is still not added (Stand plug-in can fix this)
  • Takes time to get used to tabs on top

  2. It is pretty nice, the tabs in the top bar with XP look kind of blah. I'm sorry, I mean really ugly. It is better performance though. I will test this on Windows 7 tomorrow. But i can tell you, it looked more mac like before. I liked that better than this. Take a look: http://i40.tinypic.com/28r05k8.png
