Old Macbook vs. New Macbook
Now, I only have access to an old macbook pro, which I enjoy very much. However, it seems it’s time to look at the new mac on the block.
Apple’s new process in creating a macbook requires only one piece of metal; and its just that. The body is smooth, with a shiny metallic feel. The new macbook has all its ports on one side, which makes arrangements of cables and such much easier.
Performance benchmarks are about the same, with the new macbook slightly faster. The more important update to performance is the use of the new Dual-GPU integrated intot he motherboard. One is a power-saver, cutting down battery usage and backlight power. This less powerful GPU runs basic software on the less graphical dependent side. The other card, The new, integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, is good, but not much faster than the old pro’s card.
I was not overly impressed with the screen. Why would apple consider changing the old macbook screen to a new all LED lit one? LED displays poor quality gray, instead giving a true dark black.
Overall, I can’t complain about shiny new toys. But If I were buying a laptop, I would gladly go for an old macbook pro.
