So it seems after years of playing sub-par in the email, homepage, and search engine department Yahoo! finally grabbed some sense and decided to reorganize. Carol Bartz, Yahoo!’s six week old CEO wrote “Today I’m rolling out a new management structure that I believe will make Yahoo a lot faster on its feet…We’ll be able to make speedier decisions, the notorious silos are gone, and we have a renewed focus on the customer.” Ever since the previous CEO Jerry Yang denied a $47.5 billion takeover bid from Microsoft, Yahoo! stocks have been trickling to their new low of $13 a share of thrusday. This was not the first attempt of partnership; last year Yahoo! tried to partner with Google, but were denied because of an anti-trust lawsuit. In some sense, it looks like Yahoo! may try to turn around. Google could use some competition, considering they control the entire world as we know...

Hypothetical question: will we need HDD’s larger than 10 gigabytes on laptops within the next ten years? Lets look at both possible answers. Yes, of course programs are growing to be large, complex systems of files, flashy screen transitions, and processor sucking workhorses. Games are growing in requirements, size, and detail. It is not uncommon to see today’s PC games require 15gigs of space, minimum of 2gigs ram, and a 2.4 or above mghz processor. As games and software climb the never-ending ladder of Moore’s law, so do the laptops needed for today’s portable power user. But what if all of your software, music, and games were online? What If you did not need all that anti-green space on your battery-using hdd? Soon, this may be a reality. For those of you who do not now, A large integrated system of servers keeps the internet going. As companies grow, accounts get larger, and this means more space for us. The cloud is the idea of having no files on your own drive, instead, they are stored on various servers which hold your documents and settings. The cloud has already begun. Online software today exists for every purpose. Need to listen to some music? Now, I only have access to an old macbook pro, which I enjoy very much. However, it seems it’s time to look at the new mac on the block. Apple’s new process in creating a macbook requires only one piece of metal; and its just that. The body is smooth, with a shiny metallic feel. The new macbook has all its ports on one side, which makes arrangements of cables and such much easier. Performance benchmarks are about the same, with the new macbook slightly faster. The more important update to performance is the use of the new Dual-GPU integrated intot he motherboard. One is a power-saver, cutting down battery usage and backlight power. This less powerful GPU runs basic software on the less graphical dependent side. The other card, The new, integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, is good, but not much faster than the old pro’s card. I was not overly impressed with the screen. Why would apple consider changing the old macbook screen to a new all LED lit one? LED displays poor quality gray, instead giving a true dark black. Overall, I can’t complain about shiny new toys. But If I were buying a laptop, I would gladly go for an old macbook pro. link...

Sony has jumped the back from camera to internet integration. The Sony DSC-G3 Cyber-shot has a web browser to use at any wireless hot-spot. Pictures from a memory card or internal memory can be uploaded to any photo site, like Dailymotion, YouTube, Picasa, and shutterfly. This may not seem very important, though creative, but think about what happens next. Hd Camera’s with internet integration, Camera’s with editing software…the internet is slowly integrating into our lives a bit more every...
