The Sims 3…or your neighborhood?

The sims, since it’s release in 2000, is the best selling PC game of all time; there’s no doubt why of course. From launching rockets in your house or taking away ladders in the pool, there were countless of ways for players to play Satan and destroy their sims lives. On the other hand of course you can raise your family to be married and have kids and live good lives but that’s no fun and that’s lots of fun. Now, the newest installment of the sims is on it’s way and well…It looks brilliant.

Besides the fact that you can control the lives of programmed humans on your computer, the Sims has always been the game everyone has had to had. From the ten year old kid to the forty year old housewife, thousands have had fun with Sims and Sims 2. Sims 3 continues to live up to par with many new features; here are a few:

Destiny has become a new option within the Sims, in which you can choose the ultimate outcome of your Sim’s life.  Choices range from making the big bucks to plotting reveng on an evil neighbor; and, your Sim may or may not follow your chosen destiny. Kind of like….If they….had a mind….of their own?

Another new feature is the new and improved movie system. Now, movies about your Sims with audio and video can be easily created and shared with friends through the profile pages amongst you and your friends.

Between these and new features such as style customization, and complete control over how a Sim looks, the best new feature is the new choice in personality creation. In the first Sims, personality changed based off mood, but often not be much. In Sims 3, however, 60 personality traits can be combined to a create millions of personalities. (When you actually do the math, it’s around 8.32e81 possible outcomes)

The Sims 3 is filled with new towns, locations, personalities, destinies, and well…..everything new. With so many new traits, you have to wonder: are you even still playing just “a game”. The variables involved in the game are insanely complex, not to mention intricate. The Sims 3 will take simulation games to a new, more lifelike, level. Who knows, one could even create themself in game….and play their own life.
