DTV is finally here

The long wait is over, the time for DTV is finally here! Starting tomorrow, all television stations must shut off their analog signals and transmit only in digital. This mandate was supposed to begin in February, but was delayed by Congress because people weren’t ready. Many, including us, said that if you weren’t ready at that point, you aren’t going to be ready. As predicted, many are still not ready. Maybe no television signal will give them the clue? It’s not like they didn’t have notice. They were making “digital ready tvs” way back in ’99. They’ve been talking about this for years, and we are one of the later countries to make the switch. All that I know is that I have really bad cable, and I’ve got this sinking feeling it’s still going to stink tomorrow. Who’s ready, who’s not? We’ll find out in less than 24...

Starting On Saturday You Can Get A Username On Facebook

Starting this Saturday morning, June 13, at 12:01am EDT, Facbook users will be asked to choose a username for their profiles. This mad rush to grab a username should cause plenty of headaches if and when the masses decide to swamp the Facebook servers. But Facebook may be up to the challenge and have stated the following: When the landrush starts, users will be able to choose just one username for their profile and for each of the pages that they administer (they will not be available for groups or events). Usernames must be at least five characters long and can only contain letters, numbers, or periods. They will only be available in Roman characters at launch. However, users should be careful to choose the right one: once you have made a choice, you won’t be allowed to change it or transfer it to someone else later on. Facebook isn’t allowing transfers in order to undercut the rampant squatter market that would otherwise develop – although there will still definitely be cases of abuse. Facebook says that generic words like “flowers” or “pizza” will not be available as usernames, though we’re not sure how exactly those rules will...

Macbook Pro to now include the 13 inch

Apple has thrown a curveball recently. The new Unibody Macbooks are now considered to be part of the Pro family. Prices have stayed the same for now and there is no rumors of it rising. For now, the only Macbook you can buy is the 13 inch white polycarbonate one that has extremely similar specs as the newly transferred unibody 13 inch Macbook Pro. I guess Apple decided that since the new unibody’s look so similar that they should be in the same family, The Pro...

Since I am a bit of a mac fanatic and am dying for my new 3Gs, I am just glad they got it straightened...

Thats right, Snow Leopard is due to be out sometime in September, only a month before the release of Windows 7 (coincidence?) What is most suprising is the cost of the upgrade with users on Leopard. iPhone 3Gs ALERT!

Well those of you who were dying to be one of the first, as I, to get a pre-order on a new iPhone, better not hold your breath. I just attempted the same. Upon logging into Apple and putting in all of my info and being informed that I could indeed order now, with free shipping and receive my new phone by June 19, I suddenly got a “site down for maintenance” message. I talked with an Apple iPhone Rep and was told that they were just as stunned by the release of the phone as we were this afternoon (EST)morning (PST) and they could not keep up with the flood of interest on the internet. They were “advised” to tell customers not to attempt to place an order until the 17th of June-Yikes!-Just 2 days before the actual release in stores. How do you like them...
