Facebook Alert: From Mashable

Mashable posted this malware warning today so I thought I would post it here fr our readers: A new malware attack is spreading via Facebook’s news feed, according to reports from users on Twitter. The attack consists of a message starting with the phrase “try not to laugh xD,” followed by this link: “http://www.fbhole.com/omg/allow.php?s=a&r=72306″ (don’t open it). The attack, which seems to repost the message without your permission, uses the oldest trick in the book. Once you click on the link, you’ll see Facebook greyed out and a weird dialog that looks like a Windows error message, containing the...

Bicycle Beta at Google Maps

Yesterday, Google Maps added a beta for Biking Directions. You can get the full skinny from the Google Blog or go right to the Google Maps Page and choose “Bicycling” from the drop down menu under Get Directions. Google added information about bike trails, lanes and recommended roads directly onto the map. When you’re zoomed into a city, click on the “More” button at the top of the map to turn on the “Bicycling” layer. You’ll see three types of lines appear on the map: Dark green indicates a dedicated bike-only trail; Light green indicates a dedicated bike lane along a road; Dashed green indicates roads that are designated as preferred for bicycling, but without dedicated lanes I tried it out and it worked very well. Of course remember as the warning says when you submit your...

ALERT: What the Copy Machine is Keeping

I try and stay away from the copy machine, but indeed there were hundreds of times my tax prepareer, lawyers, doctors and employers, etc… have copied my personal and private data for their own files. I never think much about it, I mean, what are the chances that anyone would break into the offices and steal My records? But then I watched this segment on CBS News last night and what I saw was truly shocking: Are any others of you out there concerned about this newfound breech of privacy discovery? Let us...

Facebook Heading for a Face Off and Hires the Big Gun?

This morning, Tech Crunch reported that Facebook had hired former FTC Chairman, Timothy J. Muris to represent them against the growing scrutiny in Washington  over new Facebook privacy policies. Powerful Anti-Trust lawyer, Muris held his FTC chairmanship under the Bush administration and is the creator of the   U.S.  Do Not Call Registry. The negative reactions to Facebook’s new Open Graph API, announced in the past two weeks has been growing in furor .  Several members of Congress and at least 14 Advocacy Groups for Privacy have joined in asking that the FTC regulate Facebook’s new policy that is currently an opt-out to force it to make Open Graph an opt-in. The supposed hiring of of Muris would seem to be a good step in light of  the direction from which this negative response is coming. But later today we learned that Facebook is denying that they have, in actuality, hired Muris as of yet. This would be a formidable job that Muris could well-handle, especially in tandem with Facebook’s recently hired, director of public policy, Tim Sparapani who is an ex- American Civil Liberties attorney. There has been much made of Facebook’s new plans in the media. On Saturday Morning, Joan Goodchild, senior editor of CSO (Chief Security Officer) Online., was interviewed on The Early Show and gave her list of 5 Dangers of Using Facebook”: Your information is being shared with third parties...

EGads!! Another iPhone 4G in the Wild?

If we are to believe what was posted this week on the Vietnamese website, Tinhte.comthen there has been another iPhone 4G prototype escaped to the wild, captured, dissected then put online for all to see. Unlike the prototype found all alone in the Silicon Valley bar in March, this phone was working when it was found. When it was turned on, it displayed a background screen with a fireball on it and the word “inferno”. From the pictures posted online, the components seem reveal that the phone has the Apple A4 microprocessor very similar to the iPad processor. In the pictures and video shown below it would also indicate that it is the real deal. [fpg...
