Drew Carey Bids $25,000 for @Drew Twitter Name
it was tweeted,reported and blogged by many yesterday that Drew Olanoff, avid twitter user and cancer fighter, would be auctioning off his twitter name @drew to raise money for the LIVESTRONG Foundation.The minimum bid was set at $10,000. Four letter twitter names are hard to come by these days, much less many first names. it would also appear that there are many celebrities with the name “Drew” and the moola to pay for it. So with that in mind, Olanoff seized an opportunity to make big bucks for the foundation.
Today, comedian and host of The Price is Right, Drew Carey bid a whopping $25,000 for the name way exceeding the previous mentioned minimum bid. Drew Carey also says he will pay $100,000 for the @drew name if his current twitter account, @drewtv.com surpasses 100,000 followers by November 9.
The auction has started on Twitter using the merit system. Anyone can place their bid on the @drew Twitter name using the #drewbid hashtag. Bidders have until 12am EST on November 9, 2009 to make an offer, at which time Olanoff will award the highest bidder with his Twitter name. All money will go directly to the LIVESTRONG foundation.
