Google and YouTube Now Serving 10 Billion Videos Per Month.

comScore has just released their August video measurement data, and it’s been another enormous month for video viewing across Google sites.

With YouTube accounting for 99% of its video views, Google (Google) was able to rake in more than 10 billion video views in total for the month of August in the US — an increase of more than a billion views in just one month. comScore also credits the internet giant with nearly 40% of the total market share for all online video views.

The data also shows that there are still no serious contenders threatening to take away market share from Google. Microsoft sites are only bringing in 546 million views per month at 2.2% of the market, and Hulu (Hulu) is further down on the list with 488 million views and 1.9% share.

Google’s YouTube (YouTube) also reigns supreme with 121.4 million unique viewers in August, with 82.8 videos viewed per viewer. While Google continues to dominate, online video consumption on the whole appears to be continuing to rise sharply too – comScore reports that the online audience for video was its largest ever during the month.

Some other notable stats from the report include:

– 81.6 percent of the total U.S. Internet audience viewed online video.
– The average online video viewer consumed 9.7 hours of video (582 minutes) in August.
– 44.9 million viewers watched 340 million videos on MySpace (MySpace).com (7.6 videos per viewer).
– The average Hulu viewer watched 12.7 videos, totaling 1 hour and 17 minutes of videos per viewer.
– The duration of the average online video was 3.7 minutes.
