China Blocks Social Networking
Yesterday, Chinese Authorities blocked internet access to all social networking sites including Twitter, Flickr,Bing, Live.com, Hotmail.com and several other sites such as WordPress, YouTube, Blogger This seems to be a means of quieting dissent (which has been intensified with access to the internet)near the June 4th 20th Anniversary of the Tiananmen massacre.
The Chinese are proported to be the the top users of text and instant messaging in the world. It may be possible for those savvy users to get around the ban if they use desktop applications such as tweetdeck and seesmic or phone apps such as tweetie to relay their tweets.
apparently China wants to keep it old school, Web 1.0, until further notice
